Antiqua, quae nunc sunt, fuerunt olim nova...
(Latin) What is old now once was new.
Confrontation of the contemporary times with the remote past discovered by archaeologists, historians and metallurgists will be an excellent opportunity for meditating. The contemporary development of modern technologies, according to Mircea Elliade, took place among other things owing to the rejection of tradition, legends and dreams of the ancient people. Instead they undertook the effort of a creator to build the bases of our contemporary knowledge about the world, often on the ground of the sphere of cult and notions which are inconceivable for us at present. During these couple of days we try to understand these notions and establish their importance for the creation of the basis of the European civilisation. The elements of the demonstration were to a large extent similar to those presented at the "Dymarki Świetokrzyskie" festival. They have been selected according to the author's programme prepared by the Świętokrzyskie Association of Industrial Heritage and entitled "Man and Iron in the first centuries of our era". The possibility to have contact with the reconstructed relics enriches the presentation with the preservation character drawing attention to the need to protect the archaeological heritage, taking into account all dangers caused by the so-called "treasure hunters". The presentation of the reconstruction possibilities to a wider audience, prepared by professionals on the basis of reliable research, should exert a beneficial influence on the society. Its aim is also to promote the attitude of objection to the destruction of the relics of the past, as well as to tearing them out of their natural context for the purpose of placing them in private collections.
